How to Read Your New Smart MeterYour new Smart Meter has an LCD display in place of the dials on your old meter and the new smart meters can be read visually using the LCD display as well as remotely. To read your meter visually, please follow the steps that follow. Your Smart Meter cycles through three different displays, which cycle every 6 seconds. The displays are the Total Kilowatt Hour Register (Figure 1), LAN Registration (Figure 2) and the Segment Display (Figure 3) as illustrated below. To read your Smart Meter, wait for the Total Kilowatt Hour Register display to be displayed (Figure 1). The number shown is the current total kilowatt hour read, in this example the meter read would be 7,555 kilowatt hours.
