Embedded Energy Manager Renewal at GM CAMI Assembly - March 15, 2013

Erie Thames Powerlines and ERTH Corporation are very pleased to announce the renewal of the Embedded Energy Manager's (EEM) contract with GM CAMI Assembly. The original contract began on March 1, 2012 and CAMI has indicated its desire to continue with the EEM for an additional twelve month period.

Over the past twelve months, CAMI has shown a strong commitment to conservation and demand management, completing over 20 projects amounting to 3,576,121 kWh in energy savings and an overall total of 4% demand savings. Additionally, the EEM has spent a significant amount of time identifying energy savings opportunities.

Above and beyond the identified projects CAMI has also taken steps to create a culture of conservation at its location as well as working towards the ISO 50001 certification, which is a specification for an energy management system. In 2012, a cross functional energy management team was created at CAMI and this team meets on a regular basis to ensure that all opportunities are discussed and captured.

The Ontario Energy Board's (OEB) Conservation and Demand Management Code for Electricity Distributors sets out conservation targets with which all electricity distributors in Ontario must comply. Erie Thames Powerlines has a reduction in demand target of 5,220 kW and a four year cumulative energy reduction target of 22,970,000 kWh for the 2011-2014 programs. The conservation initiatives taken on by CAMI are significantly helping Erie Thames Powerlines reach these targets.
