Move in/move out

Whether you are new to the area that Erie Thames Powerlines services or are a current resident, your electrical connection and reconnection if you move is a primary concern to us. We want to make your move as easy and as efficient as possible.

For current customers moving within or out of our service territory:

Before you move into the Erie Thames Powerlines service area, you must contact us to arrange to have the service at your current residence discontinued and your account closed. To avoid delays, please provide us with the following information at least 48 hours prior to your move out date:

  • Forwarding address (to forward your last bill to your new address)
  • Date of connection of service to your new address (if moving within the Erie Thames Powerlines service area)
If you have registered your current account with eCare, you can provide all this information to us online through your eCare account prior to your move out date. If you do not have an eCare account or would prefer to give this information to us over the phone, contact us at (519) 485-1820 or toll free at (877) 850-3128.

For new customers moving into our service territory:

As a newcomer to the Erie Thames Powerlines service area, we want to ensure your electrical needs are met prior to your move in day. To avoid delays in connecting to your electrical service, please give us 48 hours notice so we can schedule a meter read and, if necessary, arrange for the reconnection of electrical service.

Contact us at (519) 485-1820 or toll free at (877) 850-3128 to arrange to set up your account. Please have the following information available when you make the call:

  • Account holder name
  • Address
  • Mailing address
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Verification of ID (driver’s license or social insurance number)
  • Move in date

Please note: We will advise you if we require a security deposit prior to your scheduled assessment and connection. For details on situations where this is required, please review our PDF Security Deposit Policy.
