Caring for our earth

Smart use of our energy resources is key to caring for our environment and ensuring our power generation techniques remain sustainable. We look for new technologies and ideas, joining you in this effort. Because each of us can do our part.

Distributed Generation

Distributed Generation uses smaller-scale power generation technologies to provide energy to an individual user. The user can sell excess energy back to the local distribution company, providing additional safe and clean energy to Ontario's already heavily used electricity grid.

We're excited to come beside Distributed Generation users in the possibilities this technology presents. There are so many options for Alternative Energy Generation. Wind, solar, hydro-electric and bio gas — each has so much potential. Through our Net Metering programs, people who choose to participate in distributed generation can receive a financial return for the energy they supply to the grid. The Ontario Government also stands with us in supporting and encouraging the use of Distributed Generation, seeing it as a unique way to ensure that the power supply needs of people, businesses and industries in our province are met.

Read through our information on the Government of Ontario's microFIT and FIT programs which supports individuals and business who want to pursue Distributed Generation and feed back into the grid.
